Q+A with Kaity Robinson:

What made you start The Brand5?

To be honest - someone told me that I wasn’t worth what I thought I was and I had no “real experience”. So I started my own company.

What is your favorite part about what you do?

Watching our clients get results without a doubt. Nothing is worth it if it doesn’t work, unless of you course you learn something.

What is your biggest professional pet peeve?

Ghosting and then blowing me up. I am BIG on communication, if you are unavailable or can’t make something work just tell me. If you ghost me or never respond then call me 10x it doesn’t go over well (by that I mean I still fully answer and do everything you need but in my head I am mad).

Q+A with WILL JOHNSON:

How long have you been working in the creative field?

I feel like I have always been into the arts and being creative as a kid and I took that into college where I majored in studio arts with a focus on photography. I continued in that field as an adult and worked for a couple photography studios over 15 years before I jumping into the branding world. As a semi-perfectionist I’ve always had an eye for detail and I think that bodes well for this type of work.

Who is your favorite artist?

I have always been a fan of street art. I would say Banksy has always been a favorite of mine. His work was one of my earliest memories of street art being used as a campaign of sorts - albeit political in most cases, but I loved how he created a brand for himself and it was recognized world wide. Taking something like street art and making it commercial, branded was always intriguing to me.

So what do you actually do at The Brand5?

I keep the chaos organized and the wheels turning. Think of me as the person building the tracks while the train is already moving - making sure deadlines get hit, fires stay manageable, and nothing falls through the cracks. Basically: part problem-solver, part professional wrangler.

Outside of work who are you?

Outside of work, I’m soccer-obsessed - coaching, playing, or watching whenever I can. I love running, being the fun aunt, and I’ll never turn down a good “girl dinner” with friends or dinner at Sabor with my boyfriend, Chip.

What’s a hill you’ll die on?

Standing up the second the airplane lands does not get you off the plane any faster. Also, pineapple absolutely belongs on pizza. I said what I said.
